Another success story for the Mothers Union Literacy Development Programme
Cecilia Stephens
Part of the ongoing Mothers Union Literacy Development Programme , a busy Literacy circle has been meeting at Ndirande Parish for the past 18 months. On Friday 3 July seventeen members met to take part in an awards ceremony. A further 11 had reached the necessary standard but were unable to attend. Led by facilitator Esther Black, selected women learners demonstrated their reading skills; several others joined them to present a short dramatisation on the benefits of literacy, including one playing the role of class facilitator.
Certificates were presented by Parish Priest and Archdeacon, the Ven Justice Msini, assisted by Diocesan Facilitators Mrs Joyce Chitete and Mrs Temwanani Kalimbe. Aslo there as guests were facilitators from literacy circles at Manje, Zingwangwa and Chilobwe together with Scottish volunteer Cecilia Stephens . Circle members contributed to cook and provide an excellent lunch which was enjoyed by all.
