Two Diocesan Evangelists are commissioned by the Church Army 28 June 2009 and travel to Kenya for training on 16 August.

After a one year training at the Church Army theological college in Nairobi in 2004-5 Martin Mlaka, Diocesan Evangelism and Stewardship Officer, was commissioned as Captain at the St Paul’s Anglican Cathedral Blantyre on Sunday 28 June. The ceremony was conducted by the International Secretary Capt. Philip Johansson from England and Capt Richard Mayabi from the Church Army Africa-Nairobi Office.
The Church Army has a specific mission and passion to give full theological training to men and women with an emphasis on evangelism work. In August Martin will travel to Nairobi to spend three more years at their Carlile theological college.
Also in the picture is Tiyanjana Banda who has been selected for sponsorship and was commissioned into the Church Army prior to his three years theological training in Kenya . Also gracing this colourful occasion were Diocesan Bishop James Tengatenga , along with Capt Paul Meke Banda and Sister Violet Pota who were trained at the same college.
