Colorado Mission Partners make second visit to the diocese.

By Claudia Fyock
Calvary Episcopal Church, Golden, Colorado, USA

The first three weeks of June, 2007, were a special time for Calvary's group from Colorado.

This is the second year we've been working with the Mlambe II Primary School, outside of Mdeka, Malawi.

We have established a library with over 1,000 pounds of books.
Reading to students in the new library.

There are reference and resource books, fiction and non-fiction books, and many novels for the 800 students who study there.

Our projects at this school as Mission Partners included teaching alongside the instructors, painting a beautiful 18 foot banner for the library, conducting a well-child clinic for the children, and finishing eight pit-latrines on the school site, besides building relationships with the students and teachers.

It is Calvary's commitment to build libraries and school blocks (buildings) at Malawi's six Anglican Schools.
Building relationships.

Our last project at Mlambe II has been completed.

And now we are ready to move to our second school - that being Thyolo. We are hopeful that the building process is already underway.

As a Mission Partner, our goal is to bring a shipping "container" -- with 45,000 pounds of books -- in the near future, when three libraries are completed, to facilitate the education of Malawi primary school children.

We at Calvary Episcopal Church feel this is a good step in enhancing and supporting the educational process that has begun in the rural villages.
Building relationships and having fun!
