"Youth Service" presented by Schools and Colleges Ministry

By Mrs. Josie Tengatenga

College Students
On 6th of April 2008 there was a service of worship followed by a teaching on dating and what the Bible says about drinking and drunkenness.

The bishop explained that dating is an English concept and people need to realize that as Africans we also have our own cultural ways of doing things that are different but important.

He urged the youth that as Christians it is important to seek God’s will and guidance because the idea behind dating is to find someone who will become our life partner.

He explained the difference between love and liking. If there is love between two people it will be revealed in how they relate to each other because one cannot claim there is love when it leads the other into sin.

Commenting on drinking and drunkenness he said that the Bible is negative on the abuse of alcohol and if one cannot control himself/herself they should abstain from drinking. The Lord Bishop was both the celebrant and preacher. He encouraged the young people to hold onto Christ and not be moved by strange teachings that have crept into the church.
