ABOUT THE LOGO DESIGN
for the
ANGLICAN DIOCESE OF SOUTHERN MALAWI
by Bishop James Tengatenga

The logo uses the image of a blue shield with a cross and a bishop's mitre above the shield. The circles in the shield are depictions of life in the Diocese of Southern Malawi.
On top the left we have a factory representing the city of Blantyre as the centre for industry and econmic hub of the nation.
On the top right we have people - the church is about and for the people of God - the south is the most densely populated part of the country which is both a blessing and a problem. The image represents family and peole of all ages and gender.
The bottom left is a tea leaf - one of Malawi's major export crops which is grown in the southern highlands.
The bottom right shows the mountain (Mulanje and the whole of the southern Highlands), the tree ( Mulanje Cedar and all flora) and the river (the Shire). Yes, God is the creator of the universe, and the Lord of all life and all work, after whom all families are named.
This logo design, introduced in 2006, represents God's mission and ours too.
